Whenever a couple in today’s world has a first baby, they are immediately asked a question “When are you having your next child?” This is a million dollar question as most couples today opt for a single child. Why they do so? One of the major reasons for this is that in today’s world where everything is becoming so difficult to afford it is viable to have only one child. Parents can use all of there available resources to bring up the only child in a proper way, so that the child is not starved of anything. Next reason is that in today’s world when the woman power is on the rise both mother and father are normally working. So having one child helps them keeping there jobs as well as raising the child.
It would be unfair to expect from the ladies to give up there jobs when we talk of creating a society where ladies have equal opportunities and they can live there dreams. In modern times when children are facing fierce competitiveness in schools, offices it would be too much to have the sibling rivalry at home. If there is only one child then he will not have to face all those things like being admonished for scoring less, being not as intelligent or genius as his or her sibling.
Also in today’s world the resources are very much perilous. So to reduce the pressure on mother earth couples normally opt for a single child. It has been found out in various studies that when people have there second child the pressure on there marriage increases and chances are that there will be a failure in the marriage. So single child helps in avoiding that and keeps the parents bound to each other. There were times when there would be whole family or village to take care of your child but in today’s time of nucleus families’ second child is a luxury and parents tend not to afford it.
